Beany And Cecil The Wildman of Wildsville
This cartoon can be found on the Beany and Cecil DVD that was released in 2000, or the Home Video series released in the 1980’s.
Long ago… sometime around Junior High School I believe, I woke up early on a Sunday morning and discovered Beany and Cecil for the first time. There was a really charming dynamic between the main characters, and I was immediately impressed by the look and feel of the show. It quickly became my favorite cartoon ever.
All these years later I still remember the first gag that really caught me. The gang was off on some kind of adventure to Hollywoodland and along the way they mentioned the famous movie studio "Twentieth Century Socks". When someone asked what the studio would do in the year 2000 the answer was simple… "They’ll change their socks!"
The "Wild Man of Wildsville" is a personal favorite of mine because it has SO many things going for it! Bob Clampett managed to deliver some really incredible work with his crew, and I think that this episode is a great encapsulation of that.
Over the years I have been able to get most of these cartoons on tape, but I do still need "Volume 11" of the original Home Video series. If you know where I can get a copy please write to me at "ohjeepers [AT] milkmoneycartoons.com"!
I hope that you will grow to love Beany and Cecil as much as I do. Thanks for watching!
