Max Fleischer's, The Cobweb Hotel
Unfortunately this was the only version that I was able to find on You Tube, so please excuse the crummy picture quality until I can find a better one.
To celebrate Halloween, I thought that I would recommend one of my favorite "scary" cartoons. The CobWeb Hotel was made by the Max Fleischer studio long, long ago, and is filled with some really crazy ideas that are well worth a few moments of your time.
The cartoon centers on the notion of a perverted spider that preys upon innocent young couples. Along the way there is also some bondage, singing and fighting.
It’s a comedy.
While all of the fly characters are pretty uninspired, the animation and design on the Spider in this cartoon is completely top notch! He is a true cartoon star from the moment that he appears on screen.
As far as I’m concerned this spider should have been as big of a star as Popeye was with that great voice, design, and performance.
Please make special note of the opening and closing three dimensional sets which are also very cool.
