The Monkees Circle Sky
Circle Sky is a song from The Monkees Soundtrack Album "Head". This live performance is a scene from that movie. (Note: The sound on this video is a bit out of synch.)
When I was a kid I wanted to BE Mike Nesmith. I remember once wearing a wool hat in the middle of July while walking to the store with my mother, I was about 8 years old, and I was complaining the whole time about how incredibly hot it was. My mother pointed out the obvious fact that if I would simply remove the WINTER hat that I was wearing on a SUMMER day then the heat might not seem so bad.
I refused, and instead opted to stay true to my dreams of BEING Mike Nesmith.
Years later when I discovered the Monkees Movie "Head" I was completely blown away by this live performance of "Circle Sky". It had so much raw energy that I was AGAIN reminded of how truly great the Monkees where.
Once more I wanted to BE Mike Nesmith.
Eventually I taught myself how to play guitar, and now all these years later when I’m not rocking out with my Band The Ohjeepers I can be found singing and playing Mike Nesmith songs in my bedroom at Three in the morning.
I don’t wear the hat though.
